Muay Thai & Kickboxing

Muay Thai, sometimes referred to as “Thai boxing,” and known as the art of eight limbs, has been practiced in Thailand for hundreds of years. Muay Thai is a form of kickboxing that executes stand-up strikes using eight “points of contact” in combination with tactical clinches to gain leverage and advantage.

The martial art of Muay Thai began to spread outside of Thailand towards the end of the 20th century, as Thailand began to increase in popularity as a tourist destination for western nations. As the popularity of Muay Thai has continued to grow, techniques such as the Spinning Backfist and the Superman Punch have become well-known. The devastating nature of Muay Thai strikes have made this martial art a core competence for most MMA fighters.
